Since the wrap of The Alienist in August 2020 fans are waiting for another season. The alienist is a crime drama show starring Dakota Fanning alongside Daniel Brühl and Luke Evans.

Separation of the trio at the end of Season 2 of ‘The Alienist’

In the season of The Alienist: Angel of Darkness Sara aka Dakota Fanning started her own detective agency; Laszlo Kreizler aka Daniel Brühl and the newspaperman John Moore aka Luke Evans join together to catch a killer who is seen stalking the streets of New York. As the season ended, we saw the trio returned the kidnapped Vanderbilt baby and caught the killer Libby Hatch aka Rosy McEwen.

After solving the case they find their friendship at a crossroads. After Sarah and John got attracted to each other in the earlier episodes, he later decided to continue his marriage to Violet (Emily Barber) who got pregnant. Sara neglected her feeling for john and decided to focus on her detective work rather than getting married and start a family. At last, Kreizler left New York City and moved to Vienna where he got the chance to meet Sigmund Freud.

Release date of ‘The Alienist’ Season 3

At the end of season 2, we saw all the 3 main characters heading their separate way. But it won’t be hard to write a plot to bring them back together for the next season. No official statement has been made yet by TNT regarding the third season of The Alienist

The plot of Season 3 of ‘The Alienist’

The first season of The Alienist was based on Caleb Carr’s 1994 novel “The Alienist “. Whereas the second two of the show was roughly based on the next part The Angel of Darkness: Book 2 of The Alienist 1997. Some changes were made in season 2 as compare to the novel like dropping some plot points and adding others like Sara and John’s affair. There are some chances that the third season can use some elements of that book that didn’t make it into the second season or it can focus on a new mystery.
