Outlander Season 6: Everything you need to know!

Sadly, for outlanders fans, the “droughtlander” (a title used for the waiting period between seasons) is here. This time it’s because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Fortunately, Outlander is renewed for another season.

Outlander is officially returning with the sixth season.

Back on May 9, 2018, Starz announced the renewal of the outlander show for TWO MORE SEASONS! Season 5 and Season 6.

Work has already started on the season.

In March 2020, Actor Sam Heughan who plays Jamie Fraser in the show, did a Q&A on Twitter. He confirmed the work had started for the future episodes before the final episode of season five was even aired.

One fan asked Sam Heughan,” have you read S6 scripts yet?” of which Sam Heughan answered, “We have begun… Ep 1!!! So thrilled. Yet, you will adore the rest of this season.”

In a separate Q&A, Caitriona Balfe, who plays Claire Fraser, shared, “The writers are still at work” on future episodes.

Even the actress Caitriona Balfe was surprised after the renewal announcement.

“We hoped that we would get a season five. We weren’t really expecting them to pick up both together, so that’s really exciting,” she said, according to Digital Spy.

Season six is getting twelve episodes which are the same number as Season five but less than the earlier seasons.

Season six will be roughly based on the sixth book of Diana Gabaldon in the Outlander series: A Breath of Snow and Ashes.

Before season five, all the season of Outlander has been loosely based on only one book. But season five has covered the plot of two books, The Fiery Cross and A Breath of Snow and Ashes.

So, there is a possibility that season six will over the rest of the storyline of A Breath of Snow and Ashes and some of An Echo in the Bone, the seventh book of Diana Gabaldon.

A release date has not been shared yet.

We don’t think season six of Outlander will be aired until the end of 2021.

In the mid-September of 2020, Maril Davis, the executive producer of the show, said, “This Droughtlander will continue for a wee bit longer than usual,”
