## Forget “The Walking Dead,” This Prime Video Apocalyptic Thriller Will Haunt Your Dreams
We’ve all seen our fair share of post-apocalyptic shows, but Prime Video’s latest offering isn’t your typical zombie-fest. Forget hordes of flesh-eaters, this chilling thriller digs into the true horrors of the human condition when civilization crumbles.
Unsettling Apocalyptic Thrillers on Prime Video
If you’re fascinated by films that explore the haunting possibilities of nuclear catastrophes, “Miracle Mile” is essential viewing. And right now, it’s streaming on Prime Video. It’s chilling, thought-provoking, and even comedic in certain moments. And that makes it perfect for an unorthodox streaming night.
“Miracle Mile” follows Harry (Anthony Edwards), a musician who meets and instantly falls for Julie (Mare Winningham) at the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles. After a romantic evening together, Harry accidentally misses their midnight date. He scrambles to make it on time and ends up picking up a ringing payphone. On the line is a panicked man warning him that nuclear war has broken out. Missiles will hit LA in 70 minutes.
Harry desperately tries to find Julie and escape the doomed city in time before disaster strikes. As uncertainty grows about whether the threat is genuine or merely a false alarm, Harry’s left wrestling with impossible choices and the frantic question of how to spend their final moments. How do you spend the last few moments of your life? And how did things get to that point?
If you’re someone who finds nuclear war stories both exciting and scary, “Miracle Mile” should immediately jump to the top of your streaming list. This underrated ’80s thriller expertly captures the kind of anxiety and paranoia of an impending nuclear disaster in a way few films ever have. And it isn’t afraid to embrace its ’80s roots in an unabashed way.
But most importantly, it doesn’t shy away from the very real human panic that would actually happen in this situation. Plus, it unfolds almost in real-time, which makes it feel more visceral and authentic. I’ve often wondered what I would do in that situation and “Miracle Mile” hits uncomfortably close to home in all the right ways.
Forget all the other nuclear apocalyptic thrillers. If you’ve seen “Threads” or you’re on your 85th rewatch of “On the Beach,” it’s time for a little something different, and “Miracle Mile” hits the spot perfectly. It’s streaming right now on Prime Video, so be sure to check it out.
The Future of Bachelor in Paradise: Implications and Speculations
Season 10 of “Bachelor in Paradise” premieres sometime in 2025. The cast includes singles from Jenn Tran’s and Grant Ellis’ seasons, plus some “Golden” contestants. Here’s everything we know about the next season of “Bachelor in Paradise” so far.
Grant Ellis’ season of “The Bachelor” is over, but fans of the franchise can gear up for the return of “Bachelor in Paradise.” Since 2014, the beach-set offshoot series has featured fan-favorite Bachelor Nation stars hoping for another chance at finding love. After skipping its 2024 season, “Paradise” is set to return this year.
Details about the 2025 season of “Bachelor in Paradise” have been sparse, but more information is slowly emerging. Here’s what fans can expect from season 10 of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
The ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ season 10 cast will include stars from Jenn Tran’s season of ‘The Bachelorette’
Hakeem Moulton, Jeremy Simon, and Jonathon Johnson, stars of “The Bachelorette” season 21, at “The Bachelor: The Women Tell All.” Jonathon Johnson and Hakeem Moulton, who competed on season 21 of “The Bachelorette” starring Jenn Tran, are headed to the beach for “Paradise.”
Jonathon, a creative director in LA, had an easygoing, slow-burn romance with Jenn but was eliminated just before the finale. After sitting in the hot seat during the “Men Tell All” episode, Jonathon revealed that he was still single. Then, Jesse Palmer, the host, invited him to “Paradise,” and he accepted.
Hakeem, a medical device salesman from Illinois, won over Bachelor Nation with his big personality. He was eliminated during week three, and Palmer invited him to “Paradise” during the “Men Tell All.” Hakeem has been teasing his involvement in “Paradise” by sharing a video on Instagram of himself working out.
Additional cast members for ‘Paradise’ were announced during the ‘After the Final Rose’ special
Zoe McGrady, the tech engineer and model who made it to the final three during Grant’s season, accepted Palmer’s invitation to the beach. Palmer proceeded to announce a twist for the coming season. For the first time ever, stars from the “Golden” spin-offs will also be part of “Paradise” alongside “Bachelor” and “Bachelorette” alums.
Gary Levingston from “The Golden Bachelorette” and Leslie Fhima, the runner-up on season one of “The Golden Bachelor,” revealed that they’d be part of the show, among other yet-to-be-announced “Golden” contestants. “I cannot wait,” Leslie said. “The beach is my thing, so I’m very excited and I’m so excited to be with my old friends, make new friends, and maybe find love.”
Gary shared similar comments, saying that fans could expect to see him dancing, basking in the sun, and “looking for love in all the right places.” How exactly is this going to work? Fans will have to tune in.
‘Bachelor in Paradise’ season 10 premieres sometime in 2025
Jesse Palmer, the host of “Bachelor in Paradise,” in a promotional photo for season nine. ABC announced the return of “Paradise” in July 2024, two days after Jenn’s season of “The Bachelorette” premiered. Season 10 of “Paradise” debuts in 2025, but the exact date hasn’t been announced yet. If past seasons are any indicator, it’ll premiere in August or September.
2025 Movie Releases: A Guide to the Most Anticipated Films
Looking for something new for your next regularly scheduled movie night? Here are the most anticipated films of 2025.
Werewolf Movies and More: The Best of the Upcoming Releases
‘Wolf Man’: A New Take on a Classic Theme
Leigh Whannell’s film stars Christopher Abbott, Matilda Firth, and the great Julia Garner; Abbott plays a man bitten by an animal who seems to be turning into an animal himself. Stop me if you’ve heard this before. But there’s a reason they keep making werewolf movies. Because they’re cool.
‘Sinners’: A Thrilling Adventure from Ryan Coogler
Ryan Coogler, who wrote and directs, teams up again with Michael B. Jordan, and they’re a mighty pair (“Black Panther,” “Creed”). Jordan plays twins who return to their hometown looking for a fresh start and instead find evil. Sounds pretty great to me.
‘Black Bag’: A Tense and Intriguing Spy Thriller
Steven Soderbergh can be somewhat hit-and-miss as a director, but whatever he makes is always at least interesting. Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender play married intelligence officers. When she is accused of betrayal, he has to find the truth. OK, it could be awful. But with the talent on hand, I’m hoping for the best.
The Art of Guessing: Why Some Predictions Fail
I made the mistake of looking at my list of movies I was looking forward to in 2024. I don’t recommend it. It’s like watching video of yourself doing karaoke late in the game at an office party — fun at the time, but in retrospect awkward, embarrassing and just plain wrong.
Oh, not everything on the list turned out to be bad (let’s hear it for “Dune: Part Two”) but only one of them — one of them — wound up on my final top 10 movies of the year. “Civil War,” take a bow.
It’s an art, not a science. Actually it’s not an art, either. It’s guessing. But ideally it’s educated guessing.
Upcoming Releases to Watch Out For: A Sneak Peek into 2025
‘Mickey 17’: A Bong Joon Ho Film to Anticipate
Robert Pattinson plays an ‘expendable,’ a crew member on a space mission who can be regenerated after they die. And then things go awry. … With Mark Ruffalo, Toni Collette, and Steven Yeun. Hopes are still high, because weirdly enough, I wrote about this film on last year’s list. How do you delay a Bong Joon Ho movie? Like this, I guess.
‘Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning’: A Franchise Finale
It’s taken about 107 of these movies, but I’ve finally kind of come around on them. I wish Tom Cruise would push himself more and maybe he will, if the title says anything meaningful about the franchise. On the other hand the original title was “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part Two,” but “Part One” tanked at the box office so they changed it. Go figure. The villain in the first part was Artificial Intelligence. Not a bad idea.
’28 Years Later’: A Reunion of ’28 Days Later’ Creators
The first installment in this franchise, “28 Days Later,” was wild and smart and influential — director Danny Boyle and screenwriter Alex Garland (now a great director in his own right; see “Civil War” above) brought a new spin to the zombie movie. A rage virus spreads through England and Cillian Murphy runs around trying to avoid it. “28 Weeks Later” wasn’t as good, but this film reunites Boyle and Garland. There’s a lot of buzz about whether you can see a version of Murphy in the trailer. If that’s him, it’s been a tough few years.
