Season 2 of Knights of Sidonia was released back in 2015. It has been more than five years since that time now, and fans have been anticipating another season in the series. Their expectation and exasperation are valid, Anime has already been established because it is so unique and fresh. Knights of Sidonia is no exception, it has gained colossal fan following and popularity.
Knights of Sidonia is a “space opera” and “mecha Magna” series, based on the Manga of the same name by author Tsutomu Nihei. The first season was directed by Kōbun Shizuno and the subsequent season was directed by Hiroyuki Seshita. It was the first Netflix original Anime series, with season 1 being released in 2014, quickly followed up by season 2 in 2015. With an IMDb rating of 7.8, it stands tall among the highest-rated Japanese Anime series. Both the seasons were removed from Netflix in 2019 but made their return in the same year.
The series trails the futuristic story, thousands of years from now, when shapeshifters named Guana invaded the Earth, forcing humans to leave the earth in space-ships, but the only known ship to leave with mankind aboard was Sidonia, and the hero Nagate Tankikaze saving the day.
The cradle that the Anime series extracts its storyline from has already covered 43 out of 78 chapters in the preceding two seasons, which makes way for another two or three potential seasons. Knights of Sidonia Season 3 will likely be covering about 12 to 14 chapters.
After the success of both the seasons, fans stared antedating another season way back in 2017, but not much information is out there during the retreat. The third installment was supposed to release in April 2019, but the news-land on its production and release has been barren since 2017. If rumors about production in 2017 were to be believed, Knights of Sidonia Season 3 can drop any time soon, albeit, the next big conjecture would be Summer ’21.
