Fans are extremely excited about Deadpool 3, but we still don’t know when it will be put for sure.
Deadpool 2 was a huge hit despite worries about it fitting into the MCU. The third movie has received confirmation. Ryan Reynolds said in December 2019 that “We’re working on it right now with the whole team. We’re over at Marvel [Studios] now, which is like the big leagues all of a sudden. It’s kinda crazy.”
Since Deadpool 3 was not part of Marvel’s Phase 4 Comic-Con announcement in 2019, we still do not know of an official release date. This led to fans worrying about the movie not taking off at all until Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the writers, reassured everyone. Wernick explained: “Marvel has promised to continue to let us play in the R-rated Deadpool universe, and the hope is that they will also let us veer into the MCU a little bit as well and play in that sandbox.”
They are simply waiting for the “right idea” because this movie has to be great. Once the writers and Reynolds are on board with one idea, they will go for it.
This means we do have to wait quite a while for the movie, and we don’t know till when.
Disney has released dates lined up in 2022 and 2023 for Marvel movies we don’t know of – February 17, May 5, July 28, and November 3. Deadpool 3 could be one of them.
Among all this uncertainty, one thing keeping us grounded is the return of Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool. In an interview, Reynolds said that he is privileged to have played this role and that he feels like he was born for it.
In the same interview, he joked about trying to get Hugh Jackman to come back as Wolverine even though Logan was the last film for that character. Knowing the close relationship the two Hollywood actors have, who knows, this might be a reality.
Deadpool 2 brought out a new set of heroes for like Cable (Josh Brolin) and Domino (Zazie Beetz), along with the X-Force team with Colossus (Stefan Kapičić), Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), Yukio (Shioli Kutsuna), and Russell (Julian Dennison).
We will probably have Vanessa returning, and hints have pointed to Mr. Sinister being the antagonist for Deadpool 3.
The team has had worries about the path the franchise will take after the second movie with Reynolds saying that the character of Deadpool works only if everything is taken away from him, and one can’t keep doing that.
And so he joked about the third movie going in a different direction altogether. This might mean they will take us doing the time travel lane and explore Cable’s story.
Reynolds also expressed the desire to explore Deadpool’s pansexuality. He wants this fictional universe to reflect the real world in “real ways.”
The makers are still figuring out whether they want to have more crossovers and identify Deadpool’s existence in the MCU with the X-Men or the Fantastic Four.
What we do know is that they will not tone down Deadpool 3. They will deliver a movie that has us laughing our lungs out, crying our eyes out, and loving immensely.
