Are you ready? Because finally, Star Trek: The Discovery Season 3 is now official! The news of the third season came soon after the dramatic ending of the last season as Captain Pike, and others remained stuck in the present day while others moved further into the future than we traveled in Trek.
With the announcement of the upcoming season being official, we’ll now move on to more exciting updates. When exactly will the USS Discovery land again? Who’ll return, and who will not? Who are the new cast members to be introduced to? What does the official trailer speak about the same? Let’s find out.
The 3rd season was confirmed to release on January 18, 2019, which was the day the second season commenced. However, fans have to wait a bit longer for the exact official release date to be announced. As confirmed by Kurtzman, season 3 may arrive latest in April.
Cast- who will return and who is new?
The trailer reveals the state of Discovery in the future. One may also get a quick sneak peek at the new character who’ll enter in the next season. He is David Ajala (Nightflyers), who is named Cleveland Booker in the series. As stated by Variety at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Kurtzman describes Booker’s or Book’s character as the one who may perform a bit of rule-breaking.
Besides Ajala, we’ll see other new characters as well. They will be Maulik Pancholy (Dr. Nambue, Chief Medical Officer on the USS Shenzhou), Terry Serpico (Admiral Anderson, a top Starfleet official), and Sam Vartholomeos (Connor, a Junior Officer also on the Shenzhou). We can also see Burnham, who tries to make out “that domino that tipped over and started all of this.” We understand the character changes her hair and appearance at the beginning of the trailer.
The cast members who are to make a return in this new season are as follows:
- Michael Burnham: Sonequa Martin-Green
- Saru: Doug Jones
- Sylvia Tilly: Mary Wiseman
- Dr. Hugh Culber: Wilson Cruz
- Lt. Joann Owosekun: Oyin Oladejo
- Keyla Detmer: Emily Coutts
- Paul Stamets: Anthony Rapp
- Emperor Georgiou: Michelle Yeoh
Will Star Trek: Discovery season 3 be able to enthrall its audience one more time? We’ll see that in days to come.
