After claiming a spot in the Netflix’s top 10 shows of 2019, The Umbrella Academy Season 2 has all the fans on their toes with excitement and curiosity. Post the season one finale where the end of the world was quite literally coming to a pass, and it is pretty apparent to contemplate what the second season would unfold. With Netflix teasing the viewers with a ‘Coming Soon,’ we can hope that the release is pretty near.
Based on the comic book series of the same name published by Dark Horse Comics and developed by Jeremy Slater, The Umbrella Academy is an American superhero web television series which is created by Netflix. The storyline revolves around a dysfunctional family of adopted sibling superheroes who reunite to solve the mystery of their father’s death and the threat of an impending apocalypse.
With a viewing over 45 million, surely the second season shoulders many expectations since Netflix created its show post canceling many Marvel shows. Bringing you the good news first, the renewal of the second season was officially confirmed by Netflix in April 2019, and the production wrapped up in November 2019.
However, the streaming date is yet to be announced with the closest hint of ‘Coming Soon’ in October 2019, which means we can expect the streaming anytime in 2020. Pretty annoying, eh?
The second season is expected to feature Vanya played by Ellen Page, Luther played by Tom Hopper, Allison played by Emmy Raver-Lampman, Klaus played by Robert Sheehan, Diego played by David Castañeda, Number Five played by Aidan Gallagher, Ben played by Ethan Hwang.
There are reports about additional casts who will be joining the show in the upcoming season like Ritu Arya, Marin Ireland, and Yusuf Gatewood, which means an added spice and changing dynamics of the show. Now that’s some cool stuff, right?
The second season will pick up from where the story was left in the finale and will be giving many plot twists in the following season with many threads of season 1 yet to explore. We know that on October 1, 1989, 43 women gave birth simultaneously. We’ve met seven of them, but what happened to the other 36? Undoubtedly we’ll be encountering more superpowered 30-somethings in season 2.
We’ve also got questions about the true extent of Klaus/Number Four and Vanya/Number Seven’s powers, and how spiritual, tentacle-wielding sibling Number Six/Ben lost his life. And we’d like to know more about The Handler and her timeline-managing Temps Commission. With these and many more questions, stay tuned to the show’s official page on Instagram for the release dates and maybe a hint to these answers!
