The ongoing coronavirus pandemic crisis has taken control of the whole world in just a few months. While some nation’s have been successful in reducing the growth of infected cases, big countries like the USA, Brazil, and India are still trying their best to control the cases. Many big companies and institutes like Moderna and Oxford are close to developing a vaccine for the novel coronavirus. The All India Institue of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) also began its COVID 19 vaccine trials.
Many of these vaccines have reached the human trials phase. And that being said, these manufacturing companies need as many volunteers as they can get. If you are willing to contribute to these trials, you can easily get involved and you can earn some money through this too.
A vaccine is a dose given to people, to develop resistance against a particular disease, virus, or bacteria. A vaccine trial is a process of checking whether the vaccine is working as it should, and also to check all the side effects developed due to it in the human body. This helps in the modifications or changes required for any vaccine development process. Any citizen can himself/herself volunteer for these vaccine trials and they will be paid a certain amount for it.
After human trials, the side effects of the vaccine and the positive effectiveness are noted and whole research is done on the same. This is for the betterment of the vaccine and to know all the outcomes possible with the use of the vaccine. The United States is already working on the Operation Warp Speed that is aiming to deliver 300 million doses of a safe and effective vaccine for Covid-19 by January 2021.
Apart from Oxford and AIIMS, PGIMS, SRM Medical College Hospital, and Research Centre are among some of the institutions in the human trial phase for the vaccine.
Any citizen who wishes to participate in the trial, can send in an email on Ctaiims.firstname.lastname@example.org or send an SMS or call on 7428847499. AIIMS Delhi is among the 12 institutes selected by the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) for conducting phase I and II human trials of Covaxin. The age group for the volunteers is 18 to 55 years. The human clinical trial has also commenced at AIIMS Patna.
For the vaccine trials, people who already have some underlying health conditions are preferred, because they have a higher chance of developing the COVID-19 symptoms. Pregnant women are also allowed for these trials. There is a chance that you will have to go 10-12 times to the location, as this is a large process and should be done with care.
The volunteers will be given a consent form, in which all the possible risks of the human trials will be listed. All the necessary information will also be listed in the form. If you don’t feel like volunteering after reading the conditions, you can always opt-out.
