Is Netflix dark psychological crime series- Mindhunters having a 3rd Season?? Check out for more exciting updates!

Post date:

Netflix’s dark psychological crime drama, Mindhunters had remained one of the most popular series since its release in 2016. The two seasons had thrilled the audience to a great extent. Since the completion of the second season, fans have been trying to know if the series is up for a third season. For updates on this, check out below.

Is there going to be a Season 3?

Unfortunately for the fans, they have to hold on a bit longer. The series has not renewed itself for a third season as the director, David Finch is working on some other projects right now. He has now focussed upon completion of his new feature film, Mank. He is also having duties for producing the animated series Love, Death, and Robots. Thus for some time now, he has kept aside Mindhunters as being his priority.

The cast of Mindhunters has also been released of their contracts so that they can find other works as well. Thus it is clear that Mindhunters will not be gearing up for a third season in the near future.

However, fans should not lose all hope as the season may return at some point in the future after all. A spokesperson Netflix told Entertainment Weekly: “He [Fincher] may revisit Mindhunter again in the future, but in the meantime felt it wasn’t fair to the actors to hold them from seeking other work while he was exploring new work of his own.” It had also been said earlier that Finch had plotted out five seasons for Mindhunters but now maybe the plan wouldn’t progress like that.

Release date and more updates

It is only based on speculations it can be gathered that if Mindhunters returns, its filming would start after the release of Finch’s feature film Mank in 2021. It took 8 months for filming the second season and as per the same estimations, the new episodes would release by 2022.

The main cast including Jonathan Groff as Holden Ford, Holt McCallany as Bill Tench and Anna Torv as Wendy Carr have all been released from their contracts as of now. The cast would have to reunite for this next season if there is going to be any. Stacey Roca as Bill’s wife Nancy Tench (Roca was promoted to series regular for season two), Joe Tuttle as Greg Smith (likewise promoted) and Michael Cerveris as Ted Gunn, the new overseer of the Behavioral Science Unit maybe the potential add on characters in the next season.

Till then, fingers crossed!
