Despite Sony’s live TV streaming service PlayStation Vue shutting down this month PS4 streamers not left disappointed
Sony has announced that its live TV streaming service PlayStation Vue will be shutting down by the end of the month. Therefore the PS4 owners looking to stream TV are bound to look out for suitable alternatives.
Today YouTube TV premiered on PS4 in the United States for the first time. It can be downloaded from the PlayStation Store right away. The people who are unfamiliar with Youtube’s features, YouTube TV features live content from major TV networks such as ABC, Fox, NBC, ESPN, and CBS. Overall, there are a little more than 70 networks on the service. DVR support is also available. Further, Youtube allows up to 6 accounts at a time.
YouTube TV costs $50/per month with an option to cancel at any moment. However, the only drawback is that the service is available in the United States.
PlayStation Vue has been declared to be shut down on 30th January
While announcing the shutting down of the service last year, Sony said that, unfortunately, the highly competitive Pay TV industry, with expensive content and network deals, saw a change lot slower than what they expected. Thus caused the PlayStation to decide to remain focused on their core gaming only.
As of Today, PlayStation users still miss out on a huge chunk of online content such as the popular live TV streaming services like Sling TV and Hulu’s live TV offering. On the other hand, these services have been available on Xbox One for many years now.
Therefore there is nothing to worry about for the PlayStation users since there is a possible alternative in the form of YouTube TV as well.
